The Building Surveyor Protection Works Determination

As part of the building permit process, the building surveyor may determine that your building works in North Melbourne are subject to protection works. This is done through issuing you a Form 6 determination.

The purpose of the protection works notice is to advise the adjoining owner that there is going to be works that may affect the boundary & formally give them a notice on how you will propose to protect their property. This is done by serving the protection works notice (Form 7 & 8).

Protection works are a legal requirement & need to be issued specifically as required by law. A building surveyor will not be able to issue a building permit until the protection work notice and accompanying documents are issued to the adjoining property owner for them to assess and agree to.
